In the twenty-first century, travel and its various forms of representation are mediated in new and diverse ways. Our graduate research group “New Travel-New Media”, sponsored by the Volkswagen Foundation (VolkswagenStiftung), focuses on the triad of practice, experience and media. It aims to understand and analyse the circulations of contemporary experiences of travel. We are particularly interested in the role digital and social media play in the production, distribution and reception of travel representation.
